About the Filmmakers

 

 

ELIF SAVAS FELSEN (Director, Editor)   A native of Istanbul, Turkey, Elif Savas studied violin and graduated in opera from Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. She debuted in the Istanbul International Music Festival, singing the role of Blonde in Mozart's Die Entführung Aus dem Serail. After moving to the U.S. in 1994, she won several opera competitions and recorded two CDs of arias and lieder, Songs from the Age of the Closet and Recital. She directed a documentary film, Coup, about the military coups d'etat in Turkey. She has published two books: Gece Kralicesi Kus Adam'a Demis ki, a Turkish CD-ROM book of fairy tales adapted from operas, and a e-cookbook, Get Out Of The Box. Elif writes monthly columns about gourmet cuisine and food history for Lezzet Magazine. She currently resides in Los Angeles, where she performs with various dancers, composers and performance artists in shows throughout the city, as well as lending her voice to film soundtracks. She collaborates regularly with multimedia artist Brian Felsen.

 

BRIAN FELSEN (Producer, Editor) was born in Los Angeles in 1968.  He played classical piano as a competitor until receiving degrees at the Wharton School of Business and the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania.  After college, he founded and ran an annual international music festival, the Philadelphia Music Conference.  Upon the sale of the business, he attended the Mannes School of Music and studied composition, and went on to create classical music, plays, films, and art exhibitions about consciousness and topics in philosophy of mind.  While living in Turkey, he composed his first opera and made the film COUP.  He is currently the President of CD Baby.
